Situated in the northwest part of the country, it is in the Khulna division and situated on the left bank of Gori River. Kushtia is no known as Cultural city of Bangladesh. It is an “A” class pourashava and about 260 km from the Capital city, Dhaka. It has 12 (twelve) wards covering an area of 15.5 sq. km. According to population census 2001, the total population of Kushita Municipality is 82506 (adjusted in 2008) and number of households is 17256 (adjusted in 2008). Population density and household size are 5,322 and 4.78 respectively.
